You don't need a $2,000/month SEO retainer to rank in El Paso, Las Cruces or Odessa. You need three free tools, an afternoon of focus, and a willingness to update your listings every few months.
Head to google.com/business. Add your address, hours, phone and at least ten photos (interior, exterior, staff, product). Choose the most specific business category possible โ "Mexican restaurant" beats "restaurant" every time.
Bing gets a lot of overlooked traffic โ especially from older, higher-spending customers. Bing Places lets you import your Google listing in about 90 seconds. Do it.
Bing Webmaster Tools is free, fast and gives you access to their Site Explorer and Keyword Research tools โ which are honestly better than Google's for local queries. Add your sitemap, verify your domain and check the Site Explorer once a month.
NAP stands for Name, Address, Phone. Your business's NAP must be identical everywhere online โ same spelling, same abbreviation, same formatting. "St." on your site and "Street" on Yelp confuses search engines.
The single strongest local ranking signal is how many recent, positive reviews you have. Ask every happy customer. Reply to every review โ good and bad โ within 48 hours.
Write one page per neighborhood you serve. "Plumber in Northeast El Paso" is a real search someone made this week. Answer it.
El Paso Chamber, El Paso Inc., Yelp, TripAdvisor (for hospitality), Angi (for services). Aim for 10โ20 clean, high-quality listings โ not 200 spammy ones.
Do those seven things and โ within three to six months โ you'll almost certainly rank in the top three for your main service in your city. Free.
